1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how TAP ("we," "our," or "the App"), developed by MoguLabs, handles information when you use the TAP voice typing keyboard application for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

By downloading, installing, or using TAP, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Audio Data

TAP accesses your device's microphone to capture audio for speech recognition. This audio data is:

• Processed entirely on your device using the operating system's built-in speech recognition
• Never recorded, stored, or transmitted to our servers
• Never uploaded to any MoguLabs-operated service
• Discarded immediately after the speech recognition session ends

The device manufacturer may process limited speech data according to its own privacy policy. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for more details.

2.2 Recognized Text

After on-device speech recognition produces text, this text may be sent to a third-party AI service for post-processing, which includes:

• Removing filler words and verbal repetitions
• Adding proper punctuation and formatting
• Adjusting tone according to your preferences
• Translating text to another language (if enabled)

The text is processed in real-time and is not stored by MoguLabs. The third-party AI service provider's handling of this data is governed by their own privacy policy.

2.3 User Settings and Preferences

TAP stores your preferences locally on your device, including:

• Preferred language and translation settings
• Text processing preferences (filler word removal, formatting, tone)
• Personal dictionary entries
• Auto-stop timer settings
• Haptic feedback preferences

These settings remain on your device and are shared only between the TAP main app and the TAP keyboard extension through secure local storage.

2.4 Transcription History

TAP maintains a local history of your transcription sessions, including:

• Original recognized text and AI-processed text
• Timestamps and recording duration
• Word count and processing statistics
• Language used for each session

This history is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to any external server.

2.5 API Key

If you provide a personal API key for AI text processing, it is stored locally on your device. We never collect, transmit, or have access to your API key.

2.6 Sign in with Apple

TAP may offer Sign in with Apple for authentication purposes. When you use Sign in with Apple:

• Apple provides us with a unique user identifier and, optionally, your name and email address
• We use this information solely for authentication and account identification
• This data is stored locally on your device
• You may choose to share or hide your email address using Apple's email relay service

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

For clarity, MoguLabs does not:

• Operate any data collection servers
• Collect analytics or usage telemetry
• Use advertising trackers or third-party analytics tools
• Sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes
• Create user profiles or track behavior across apps
• Store audio recordings of your voice
• Access or read the content of other apps or text fields
• Collect device identifiers for tracking purposes

4. How We Use Information

The limited information processed by TAP is used exclusively to:

• Convert your speech to text using on-device speech recognition
• Send recognized text to a third-party AI service for polishing (when enabled)
• Display your transcription history within the app
• Maintain your personal settings and dictionary
• Provide usage insights and statistics locally on your device

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 On-Device Speech Recognition

TAP uses the operating system's built-in speech recognition capabilities. The device manufacturer may process speech data in accordance with its privacy policy. On supported devices, speech recognition is performed entirely on-device.

5.2 AI Text Processing Service

When AI text processing is enabled, recognized text is sent to a third-party AI service for enhancement. Key points:

• Only the text transcript is sent — never audio data
• Communication uses HTTPS encryption
• Data is processed in real-time and returned immediately
• MoguLabs does not control the AI service provider's data retention policies; please review their privacy policy independently
• If AI processing is not enabled, text is used as-is without being sent to any external service

5.3 Apple App Store

Your download and purchase of TAP through the App Store is subject to Apple's privacy practices and terms.

6. Data Storage and Security

6.1 Local Storage

All user data (settings, history, dictionary) is stored locally on your device. Data is shared between the main app and keyboard extension through the operating system's secure shared storage mechanism.

6.2 Keyboard Extension Security

The TAP keyboard extension operates within the operating system's sandboxed environment:

• The keyboard extension has no network access of its own
• Communication between the keyboard and main app occurs exclusively through secure local shared storage
• The keyboard cannot access data from other apps beyond the active text input field
• All keyboard operations comply with platform security requirements

6.3 Data Encryption

Data stored on your device is protected by the operating system's built-in file encryption. When data is transmitted to external services, it is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

• Audio data: Discarded immediately after each speech recognition session; never stored
• Transcription history: Retained on your device until you manually delete individual entries or uninstall the app
• User settings: Retained on your device until you reset settings or uninstall the app
• Personal dictionary: Retained on your device until you manually remove entries or uninstall the app

Uninstalling TAP will permanently remove all locally stored data associated with the App.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: All your data is stored locally and visible within the app (History, Settings, Dictionary screens)
• Deletion: Delete individual history entries within the app, or uninstall to remove all data
• Control over AI processing: Disable AI processing to use TAP without any external data transmission
• Control over translation: Enable or disable translation on a per-session basis directly from the keyboard
• Microphone access: Revoke microphone permission at any time through iOS Settings
• Speech recognition: Revoke speech recognition permission at any time through iOS Settings
• Keyboard access: Remove the TAP keyboard at any time through iOS Settings > General > Keyboard

9. Children's Privacy

TAP is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our App, please contact us so we can address the concern.

10. International Users

TAP processes data locally on your device. When AI text processing is enabled, recognized text is transmitted to third-party servers, which may be located outside your country of residence. By using the AI processing feature, you consent to this transfer. You may opt out by disabling AI processing in your settings.

10.1 European Economic Area (EEA) Users

If you are in the EEA, our legal basis for processing is:

• Consent: You provide consent by granting microphone and speech recognition permissions, and by enabling AI processing features
• Legitimate interest: Providing the core functionality of the App (local speech-to-text conversion)

10.2 California Residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. All data is stored locally on your device.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and on our website. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised. Continued use of TAP after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
