Vela supports a wide range of health devices including Apple Watch, Garmin watches, Oura Ring, RingConn, WHOOP, and Withings products. Data is synced via Apple HealthKit, so any device that writes to HealthKit is compatible with Vela.
Vela's AI assistant, Avela, analyzes your health data — including activity, sleep, heart rate, and nutrition — to provide personalized coaching. You can chat with Avela to ask health-related questions, get workout suggestions, or receive insights about your trends over time.
Yes. Your health data stays on your device and is accessed only through Apple HealthKit. Vela does not upload your raw health data to external servers. When you interact with the AI assistant, only the necessary context is sent securely for processing. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
  1. Make sure your wearable device syncs data to Apple HealthKit.
  2. Open Vela and go to Settings > Health Data.
  3. Grant Vela access to the relevant HealthKit categories (steps, heart rate, sleep, etc.).
  4. Your data will appear automatically in Vela's dashboard.
Vela offers core health tracking features for free. Advanced AI coaching and premium insights may require a subscription. Check the app for current pricing and plan details.
Yes! Vela works with data from your iPhone's built-in sensors (steps, walking distance, etc.) via HealthKit. A wearable device provides richer data (heart rate, sleep tracking, etc.), but it's not required to use Vela.
Open the Vela app and navigate to the Chat tab. You can type or speak your questions. Avela has access to your health data context and can answer questions like "How was my sleep this week?" or "Suggest a workout for today."

Troubleshooting

❤️ Health data not showing
  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Health and ensure Vela has permission.
  2. Open the Health app and check that your device is writing data correctly.
  3. Try closing and reopening Vela — data syncs on launch.
  4. Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 16 or later.
⌚ Wearable data not syncing
  1. Open your wearable's companion app and verify it's syncing to Apple Health.
  2. In the Health app, check Data Sources & Access to confirm data is being written.
  3. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and your device is connected.
  4. Restart both your iPhone and wearable device.
🤖 AI assistant not responding
  1. Check that you have an active internet connection.
  2. Ensure your API key or subscription is valid in Settings.
  3. Try closing and reopening the app.
  4. If the issue persists, the AI service may be experiencing high demand — try again in a few minutes.
📊 Inaccurate health insights
AI insights improve with more data. Wear your device consistently and ensure all relevant HealthKit categories are shared with Vela. If insights seem off, try providing more context when chatting with Avela.
